We fell in love with Janet McCann's manuscript, Widowing, instantly... and we encouraged the author to submit it elsewhere. It is a beautifully experimental poetry recollection of a husband and intertwined lives and the way these two people were separated. More than that, we felt her résumé was littered with publishers who had the ability to reach a wider audience and this is a book that deserves to be read.

Though, after some email conversations with the author and talking the content over with other book makers, we came up with the idea to print a book that has to be torn apart to be read--- though we had no idea how to accomplish it. After months of failed mock-ups, we finally figured out how to hand-make this book in a way that integrates the content and the object while-- hopefully --enhancing the reader's engagement with the words within. Now, in order to read it, you must tear the pages apart and crack the spine. It is an object of separation.
